In the early hours of Saturday morning 24 September, 30 Rotarians, Rotaractors, Interactors and Earlyactors, families and friends gathered at Hummingbird hall in Rosehall for a mission: To raise funds for Christmas hampers for the needy and shut-in around Montego Bay by doing a sponsored walk.
At 6:15am, the volunteers set-off, adults, children and 2 dogs on the 5km or 800m walk of their choice around the beautiful ‘Greens’ of Rosehall.
Less than an hour later, 2 young EarlyActor friends came jogging onto Hummingbird Hall’s pool deck and splashed straight into the pool after their ‘easy’ 5 km jaunt. The other walkers ambled in later and all were treated to a delicious Jamaican breakfast which was made all the more enjoyable with the chatter and laughter of friends in fellowship.
With the total funds raised amounting to over J$30, 000 – the event was hailed a success by the energetic President of the Rotary Club of Montego bay – Vernella Fuller.
