Essay Competition - President's Project Focuses on Reading in St. James, Jamaica
The President of the Rotary Club of Montego Bay has the wonderful opportunity to choose a project close to her/his heart.
President Vernella (2011-12) has chosen to focus on Literacy. Her project has three aspects as follows:
- Reading Clubs in Primary Schools - donation of book boxes to primary schools and encouraging members to volunteer to listen to children read
- Volunteer Recognition Scheme - Recognizing and encouraging volunteerism among young people
- Essay Competition - Donation of a box of books to St. James Parish Library from which 3 have to be chosen to do a comparative essay

ESSAY TITLE:
Part 1 Write a Comparative Review of 3 books from the Book Box. You must include the following in your Review:

· Similarities and differences between the stories chosen
· Personal response
Part 2: The Rotary 4 Way Test & Your Favourite Book from the chosen 3.
What is your favourite book from the ones reviewed? What element (s) of the Rotary 4 Way Test can be said to be exemplified in this story? Give reasons for your response.
